Community through Service

“Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren,
ye have done it unto Me”
(Matthew 25:40)

At St. Andrew’s, Jesus Christ is our Savior and the LORD of our life. We believe that we are not our own, for we were bought at a price (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and therefore, in all we do our aim is to humbly serve God according to His will. As a Christian community, we serve our Lord by His grace, in His strength, and to His glory. This service is not something we do as a favor to God, or to try to earn His favor, but a way to love Him and to offer our selves, our souls, and bodies as a living sacrifice to Him by giving our time, talents, and treasure in service to God and neighbor.

At St. Andrew’s, we get involved in our neighborhood by opening our historic church for community events such as Pioneer Days, the Historic Home Tour, and the Jacksonville city-wide yard sale, and we reach out beyond our own neighborhood through our support of the Gideons and the Anglican Province of America Global Partnership.

We serve Jesus through our service to others, and we love Him by loving others. We believe such obedient, loving service honors God, and helps us become a more accurate reflection of our Lord and Savior. “Almighty God, we beseech thee, give us that due sense of all thy mercies, that our hearts may be unfeignedly thankful; and that we show forth thy praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up our selves to thy service, and by walking before thee in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with thee and the Holy Ghost, be all honor and glory, world without end. Amen.”
